The Battery Energy Storage Building (BESS) is a first-of-its-kind
construction work in Latin America and third of its type in the
world. Nominated on 1994 as Outstanding Project by the PR
Association of Engineers and Surveyors, BESS is a 50,000 sq. ft.
of heavily reinforced concrete building located in Carolina, PR
that houses a 20MW plant for storing electricity by means of 6,000
batteries to serve the Metro area electrical system.
