We support education.
Aireko
Enterprises has been committed to education since its inception in
1963.
Fundación
Aireko is mostly dedicated to awarding scholarships to college students
with limited or no financial resources pursuing an engineering degree.
In
2000, Aireko Enterprises awarded the Quique and Vicky Rossi Scholarship
in the amount of $100,000 to the Turabo University to be disbursed
in a period of five years, with matching funds from the Ana G.
Méndez Univeristy System, to which Turabo
University belongs. The recipients that benefited from these
funds were engineering students with limited financial resources.
Aireko
Enterprises also donated the entrance to the University of Sacred
Heart in San Juan. As part of the University’s
project named “Sagrado Reverdece”, the entrance renovation,
completed in only sixty days, included land survey and removal,
mechanical and electrical installations to provide lightning and
electric gates as well as a new bus stop shelter and a guard house.
Aireko
has contributed to the following organizations and/or entities
during the fiscal year 2006-2007:

Build Up & On
Site, an
educational program created by the Associated General Contractors
(AGC) Puerto Rico Chapter for middle school students of
the Puerto Rico public school system, which stimulates
and engages students in learning activities relating to
the construction industry. Real construction lessons
are given to students to observe and think about the construction
of bridges, highways, hi-rises and communities. Important
concepts as to Social Studies, English, Math, Science and
the Art of Language are embedded in the program.
Aireko adopted the Myrna M. Fuentes Public School in
Caguas, PR, where
Engineers Héctor Rivera Russe and José W.
Pérez work with sixth grade students.
Eng. Rivera Russe represents Aireko in the Build
Up program and works with 28 students on the construction of a bridge,
which they named the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, inspired by a bridge located in
Tampa, FL.

Eng. Pérez participates on the On Site program
and works with 29 students in the design of a scale model of a community and
a bridge, in addition to performing a permanent improvement to their school.
The students painted the school’s inneryard and benches, fitted out the
game areas, worked on installation of electrical circuits to be able to use computers
in science class, and are working on the schoolyard and a committee to assure
its maintenance and preservation.
